Low Rates Unlikely to Help Housing

Low mortgage rates tend to spur refinancing activity, but not necessarily purchases.  That’s because lots of other factors such as consumer confidence, job security, family size and home prices, also influence sales.  Rates are falling because of a slew of economic worries;  home sales aren’t likely to rise if buyers are worried about losing their jobs.
